Musician Shelly Ley joins Family Pride Day!

Shelly Ley has studied classical vocal music for more than 20 years and has performed in some of the world’s great concert halls, from New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall to Sacre Couer in Paris.

Ms. Ley’s performance experience ranges from opera and musical theatre to folk music with guitar and dulcimer.

Come see her June 19th at Family Pride Day in Hudson in the Childrens Music Tent from 12-5. Kids can explore multiple sounds and instruments, sing and dance. We're very excited to have her!

His compassion for helping people has evolved into a personal mission to heal the world and spread a positive message. He creates music that not only makes you feel good, but could ultimately change your life.

Out of this passion has come many significant breakthroughs for his career.

Sean is quite the entrepreneur. He has created six independent full length albums, has traveled around the country promoting his song on Autism “Open Your Eyes”, which is sure to be the most popular song on disability ever written. He is rapidly building a foundation that will last for lifetimes.

The world needs to know that self-expression in rap form does not have to be pinned down to negative topics and Sean Delaney is at the forefront of this change. Sean is a breath of fresh air at a time when we are in desperate need of a solution.

Isis Vermouth is the illegitimate drag child of the infamous Lady Esther Gin. A self proclaimed goth goddess, and shape shifter. Isis Vermouth can be anything or anyone at any time. Her wide variety of looks and theme inspired parties have been a staple of the Hudson Valley night life for over Seven years. Dark and Demented to Bright and Crazy. Her looks have drawn the attention of many.

She Hosts monthly parties in Albany and Poughkeepsie called the Ego Parties. Bringing in the biggest drag divas from Lady Bunny, to Sherry Vine. She also performs along side some of RuPauls Drag race contestants such as Mimi Imfurst, Stacy Layne Matthews, and Carmen Carrera. Duchess Ivanna has been performing for 24 years in the Capital District. She started performing with the Empress of Albany, Hazel, back in 1987. Last year she was second runner up for the Face of Pride for Capital Pride and is the current Miss ROCKS! She performed at Hudson Pride last year and is really looking forward to it again this year!

The fabulous boys at blue cashew are gracefully hosting a Tea Dance in beautiful Rhinebeck as an awareness of Hudson Pride to the Dutchess County Contingency and beyond.

This event is going to be fabulous. The food is being catered by Gigi Hudson Valley, who made the wedding cake for Chelsea Clinton last summer, the awesome DJ John Martin of Superior Sounds in Poughkeepsie will be the DJ. In addition, there will be a signature cocktail.
10% of purchases at this event will go towards Hudson Pride.

Hudson's Family Pride Day is shaping up to be an event not to miss! On June 19, 2011 Hudson will be having its first Family Pride Day, a community street festival from 12-4. As eclectic and cultured as Hudson is, this event is proving to follow closely in its footsteps.

Performing on our rainbow stage at the bottom of Warren Street at 2pm is Grammy Nominated Uncle Rock! Winner of the Parent's Choice Award & Amazon's Top 10 Children's CD.

Author Judi Barrett, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (Sony created a feature film nominated for Best Animated Picture) will be reading in the Storytellers tent and signing copies of her book.

Also performing is The Ramblin Jug Stompers (you've never seen a washboard & banjo played like this) Family Pride will also have our very own Carnival featuring Bounce Houses, Homer The Clown Dunk Tank, Carnival booths with Carnival games, free snow cones, popcorn & cotton candy, face painters, mimes. Chow down on some locally grown produce, visit the food tent featuring sample meals from many of the famed area's restaurants.

Hudson Pride Foundation on Rural Intelligence

Last year, the newly formed Hudson Pride Foundation organized its first annual parade in less than six weeks. The organization has been making plans for this year’s pride festival ever since, and Peter Frank hosted a fundraiser at his beautiful Hudson house last weekend to recruit sponsors and sell early tickets.

Ross D. Levi is the Executive Director of the Empire State Pride Agenda and Foundation, New York’s statewide civil rights organization committed to achieving equality and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) New Yorkers and our families. Splitting his time between Albany and New York City, Ross oversees the Pride Agenda, Inc.’s legislative and political activities, as well as the education and community organizing work of the Empire State Pride Agenda Foundation. The Pride Agenda is New York’s largest statewide LGBT civil rights organization with an almost $4 million budget and 25 full-time staff.

This past Saturday, the Hudson Pride Foundation held a gala fundraiser at the home of Peter Frank, where HPF President Rich Volo (also known as popular Hudson drag queen Trixie Starr) spoke about what’s been expanded from a simple parade to three days of events June 17, 18 and 19 in Hudson.

Footage by HPF Executive Director Martha Harvey, who stressed said the organization has purposefully left the word "gay" out of the name of the parade and foundation to show that the organization, and event, is about "bringing people together, not singling people out."
